Discount* is

1) the difference between the price at the present time and the price at the time of redemption or the par value of a security; purchase of a financial instrument prior to its redemption at a price which is less than the par value;

2) the difference between the forward rate and spot rate of the currency;

3) the difference between the prices for the same commodity with different terms of delivery;

4) reduction of the commodity price if its quality does not correspond to the quality specified in the contract;

5) downward deviations from the official exchange rate;
